Nana's Christmas gift

 
Dear friends,

Our Nana has very lovingly crocheted dozens of these beautiful Christmas-colored dishcloths.  She thought you'd like to give them as gifts to your dear ones this year!  Aren't they very merry?

But we have a little bit of sad news, too.  You see, Nana's having to slow down just a bit more.  She went to the eye doctor last week to get new glasses.  One of her eyes is blind now, but she's feeling well, by the grace of God!  And she can't bring herself to stop, really... so she's just going to take it easy for awhile.  Please pray for our Nana.  We love her so!  All she asks is that the Lord spare her sight, until He takes her home.

Happy 17th to our most amazing Absie-Tabs!

She turned 17 today.  Seventeen!  And we can hardly believe it at all.  What a lovely young lady our Abigail is!  No one could ever take her place...

Happy birthday, Mommy! (And a special surprise...)

 

Dear Mommy,

Happy, happy birthday!  You are the most wonderful mom in the whole world.  Really and truly, you are.  We are incredibly thankful that the Lord gave us to you!  We feel so blessed to be able to spend another year with you, and pray that this will be only one of many years to come.  Thank you for loving us unconditionally, Mommy.  Your girls love you more and more everyday!  And we'll love you forever and ever.

a happy birthday and a little bit of news...

First of all, we would like to say a great big "Happy Birthday!" to our beloved Paps (Mom's daddy).  He is the best grandpa in the world, and our very biggest fan!  We are so thankful to the Lord for giving Paps to us.  He lives far away, but we think about him all the time.  And miss him lots and lots. 

We love you, Paps!  Happy birthday!  (Imagine we're singing to you right now...)

PS... Now isn't that an adorable picture of our Paps?  It's one of our favorites.  It goes really well with the one we posted of Nan a while back.  What a cute couple!

Nana's dishcloths!

 

We are so very blessed to have two of our great-grandmothers still with us.  Grandma Conwell (Mom's grandmother) is 93 years old.  Her name is June Madeline-- we named our business after her!  She's a beautiful lady with snow-white hair... and as the Lord would have it, we inherited our creativity and artistic ability from her (and her daughter-- our grandmother Nanny, of course). 

And Nana, well, she's quite a lady too.  She's a fiesty little thing at 94 years!  She says that you're only as old as you feel... and she feels about 35.  Lately, Nana's had to keep to her chair a little bit more, but that hasn't stopped her from getting a lot done.  When she isn't reading or talking on the phone, we've started her on crochet.  Nana crocheted when she was younger, so it all came back quickly.  Then she got this great idea.  Why couldn't she help us with our business?  And why couldn't she make beautiful things for other people, while she sits at home?

Nana and the girls, spring 2009~

  

The story of the ric-rac glasses...

 

These little glasses looked so lonely when Mom spotted them at a flea market long ago.  What was she to do?  Why, take them home of course!  After all, who could resist these charming little glasses, all done up in red and white checks with ric rac trim?  Now "the ric rac glasses" have a special place on the small red cart that sits beside the dining room table.

Where they stay... until a day like today.

We Long ladies have this funny little tradition.  You see, Cherry Coke tastes especially good in one of these little ric rac glasses.  So, sometimes in the afternoon or evening, the ric rac glasses come off the red cart.

  

Then comes the fun part-- we sit and sip our soda from the little glasses and just talk.  Sometimes we laugh (well, most of the time), and sometimes we cry.  Sometimes we just sit together, the five of us, making memories that will last forever.

Maybe when Mom and Dad are empty-nesters (Lord willing), we girls will come home... just to sit and sip soda out of Mom's ric rac glasses.
