We were so happy that we were able to share Sarah Grace's most recent birthday with her, and that we were able to make her something special.  Mom's always said that a handmade quilt means you're wrapped in love everytime you put it around you, and we couldn't think of anything we would love better to do for Sarah Grace than to wrap her in love every night.

Sweet dreams, Gracie!  We love you.

PS-- In case you are curious, the quilt is our happy scappy quilt pattern, and it's made completely in one of our favorite happy lines... Pam Kitty Morning.  Oh, and we did make decorative pillows too.  It just makes a bed seem finished.

Beautiful friends with helping hands + Mexican food & sugar soda pop + Joplin quilts + needle & thread + lots of laughs & chatting + pizza to round the day off just right.  A very happy Monday.

Quilts: The Update

Alright--- So!  We have been working on the Joplin Quilts, and apologize for the silence around here about them.  It's not that we haven't cared.  In fact, we've been overwhelmed.  So many of you (and you, and you....) have contributed so much on the families of Joplin's behalf.  We were flabbergasted at how many fabric bundles we sent out and how many were returned with interest!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  The quilts are truly beautiful, and we can't wait to see them given out to those in need.

We have been getting them ready as quickly as we could, sending them off to our quilting lady.  As you can tell in the pictures, once they get back to our home we've been trimming and binding them as fast as possible.  But, since there is only 5 of us it's taking time.  We are seeing progress (yay!) and have in our minds to finish them and have them distributed by the end of the year.  We'll see what The Lord has in store!

An official Joplin Quilt Project: Love Your Neighbor page is up and running now (you can always get to it through the Joplin button on the right sidebar), where we've detailed what we still could use help on, and names of all those that have given their time, energy, talents, fabric, and money into this project.  If you've helped and don't see your name (or someone else's) on the list, please, pretty please, let us know!  We really and truly want to credit anyone and everyone who has been a part of this project!

We're unsure as to the exact amount of quilts that we will have, but hopefully we'll be sharing that information with you very soon!

PS... We also wanted to mention that we have some Ruby by Bonnie & Camille now!!  It's sooo beautiful.

Along with the million and one other things we've been knee deep in this week, we've been working on the Joplin Quilt Project.  Thank you so much to all the wonderful ladies who have sent fabric!  We're bundling everything up right now, and hopefully will have it ready to send out next week.  Kristie (Mom) worked on putting together a few ideas for quilt patterns... here they are!  If anyone has any questions, please just let us know!

So sorry for the quietness around here--- 50+ acres of hay does that.  Lord willing we'll be back regularly soon!  xxx the Long ladies

How we can help!

 
We spent last week being heartbroken over all the people in Joplin who are hurting.  Lots of prayers and tears around here.  And we wanted to do what we could to help.  So here's what we're thinking...

- We can collect fabric scraps from anyone who is willing to ship them to us.  (Nothing smaller than 13" squares, please.)

Please ship to: the Long ladies, PO Box 574, Seneca, MO 64865

- We can also be collecting Queen or King-sized flat sheets (new or gently used) to be used as quilt backing.

- And we can make as many quilt tops as we can!

- We're asking for volunteers... if we sent you enough fabric to make a quilt top, would you sew it together for us?

The whole idea is to make as many quilts as we can for these families who don't have anything left.  It seems like the least we can do.  We'll plan to post updates on our progress along and along.  Please pass the word, and feel free to re-post this, facebook it, twitter it, or whatever you like.  Let's get the word out and start sewing!
