We have to discuss fabrics when we're talking about what we do everyday! What you see above is a lovely sneak peek of a line coming to our little neck of the woods in December, Lord willing. We are very excited about it and think all of you will Love it.
And while we're on it, we might as well show you this sweet little banner our friend Kaitlyn made for us! Isn't it darling?
Don't laugh, promise? I've been thinking a lot about selvedges lately. I don't know why. They are so cute and really neat, to boot. Besides, isn't there something you can do with them? I'm still thinking. Though I have contemplated saving up enough to make a quilt top.
While we're on the subject of quilts, this is the one I'm working on. It is terribly fun! The pattern makes hand quilting very enjoyable. I don't know when I will actually finish it though. I will try really hard to post pictures when I'm all done. I highly recommend hand quilting during the winter. It keeps you nice and toasty.
And smiling. It is very much a must for everyday life.
Life is full of a lot of everydays. What do your "everyday" days consist of?
Those selvages would look SO cute in a tassel! :)
I've made some cute ones recently with yarn, twine and ribbon.
I think these would look cute using the selvages and some ribbon! http://www.marthastewart.com/good-thing/ribbon-tassels

My everydays consist of...teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness seven little people; changing diapers; making meals; conquering Mt. Never-rest (laundry); lots of baby sugar (kisses for all the non-southerners out there); loving my husband; hugs; much prayer; repenting for fussing and what-not; snackin' on the Word (when feasting cannot happen); maintaining & beautifying our 124 year old farmhouse; operating/managing Providence Farm (where the fellowship is sweet and so is the tea); thinking of things I want to sew, but cannot seem to get to right now; checking MarieMadeline to see what is new ;-).

You know my Grandmother uses the salvage edges of her fabric and cuts them and uses then a ties for things like: Ties for a gift, to tie books together, all sorts of things and she has passed that habit down to me, and so now when I need a tie I know what I can use! I hope this helps your delema on what to do about them! (I know are they not cute or what!? :)
Blessings,
Miss. Antoinette K.

There is an AMAZING dress out in blog land that a lady made entirely out of selvages. I don't remember where I saw it, but you could probably google it.

I'd love to hear more on your everyday life! And yes, I definitely agree that smiles are vital for everyday life.

To tell the truth I never cut off my selvages -- I just sew over them (making sure the seam is big enough so it won't show. :) Come to think of it, there are probably many things you could make -- but I have non off the top of my head. :D

I'm sorry...I meant NONE off the top of my head -
spelling seems to get the better of me no matter how many times I re-check what I wrote!

I've seen a tutorial where someone used the selvages to make a wallet. It was really cute.

While I was at the International Quilt Festival, I saw a lady with a selvage purse, yes all made from the selvages she had cut away from fabric from many projects. It was beautiful! Have a great sewing day!
