The Titanic 100 was a perfectly wonderful experience in every way! We still haven't stopped talking about it yet. We gathered with a little under 600 people in Branson, Missouri, to remember and honor the heroism displayed on Titanic's decks as she went down.
There were lots of wonderful events that we were so happy to be a part of including a special trip to the amazing Titanic Museum, visiting with many reenactors, wonderful lectures by some of our favorite speakers, a screening of A Night to Remember (which you really need to see!), a special children's play commemorating 'women and children first', music by Charlie Zahm, the San Antonio Darlings, Paddy Walsh and the Boilermakers & the boys from Third Class, and many more!
The wonderful event culminated in a fabulous White Star dinner on the Branson Belle showboat as we cruised around Tablerock Lake, at the exact moment Titanic struck the iceberg that sent her down. Most of us in early 1900s-inspired clothing, naturally. We girls were so happy to have the opportunity to make our dresses for the occasion, and pull out some of our vintage rhinestone jewelry. And, Mom got to wear her paternal grandmother's haircomb and maternal grandmother's rhinestone pin. Dressing for the occasion was just icing on the cake!
As we said earlier, the whole experience was beyond wonderful, and we are so thankful for the opportunity to have joined in. It was definitely a few days to remember always!
Hope you enjoyed a peek at it! Hugs-- xoUs
Thanks for posting pictures! What a fantastic weekend. My family thought about going, but it wasn't a really great time for us (when I saw that y'all were going, I realized I missed the opportunity of getting to meet you! :)
I've enjoyed viewing your blog and lovely fabric ever since a friend of mine posted about you all on her blog several years ago (it was on the blog "Striving to Serve at Home".

The Titanic did NOT sink at 2:20am central time. I know that you all celebrated the moment of the sinking at 2:20am, but when factoring in the time zones, it sank several hours earlier. You all "missed the boat," so to speak.

Let me clarify: There was no daylight savings time in 1912. Right now Missouri is 7 hours behind GMT since it's daylight savings time, but since there was only standard, in 1912 Missourin was 6 hours behind GMT. Titanic was three zones from GMT, and sank at 2:20am at the ship's time, 5:20am GMT. Six clock hours earlier is 11:20pm. Since the cruise ended at 10:30, you weren't cruising around at the exact moment.

Hi Elle,
Thank you for reminding us about the difference in time zones, and taking into account no daylight savings time in 1912, but actually, Vision Forum, the host of the Titanic 100 had already taken that into account, so we did remember it at 11:20, which would be the proper time today. Also, we ended up staying on the boat longer than originally planned, so we were cruising around the exact time the Titanic struck the iceberg, and the exact time it sank.
Thanks so much for commenting, Elle, and have a great day!

What a wonderful memorial you held for the Titanic. Somewhere in Tie, Unlimited which is a costume group I belong to here in Seattle held a remembrance luncheon and it was delightful. The costumes were beautiful and it was a grand affair we held at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle--you can see pictures from our event at SITU.com
